The Level of Corruption in The Asia
Three months ago according to the data and Economy Political Risk Consultancy (PERC), Indonesia once again slumped in the rankings of corruption between countries. Economy and Political Risk Consultancy (PERC), a consulting firm based in Hong Kong released its annual study of the level of corruption in investment destination countries in the Asia Pacific region. Of the 16 countries surveyed, Indonesia is categorized as the most corrupt country, followed by Cambodia in second place, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, India, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, Macao, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore . Indonesia scores 9.27 on a scale of 0-10, where 0 means extremely clean, and 10 are very corrupt, down significantly from last year’s score, namely 8.32. PERC survey this year of 2174 respondents conducted business executives and senior secondary level in Asia, Australia and the United States.

Is not this condition is very poor? Especially when considering that Indonesia is in the PERC survey from year to year was never moved from the bottom positions. That is according to PERC, Indonesia is the most corrupt country in the appeal to other countries surveyed. This should be a warning to the Indonesian government to be more serious in efforts to eradicate corruption. Moreover, when associated with the Medium Term Development Plan 2010-2014 which has just formalized by the government. In it are listed the achievements of targets to eradicate corruption in Indonesia in 2014 reached a score of 5.0 based on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) of Transparency International. This target requires earnest effort considering the Indonesian CPI score in 2009 was still in the figure 2.8. CPI is a composite index of various surveys conducted by various organizations, including PERC. The fall in Indonesia in the survey score PERC, is feared to be the trend of other surveys that measure the performance of the eradication of corruption in Indonesia.
